Reading is sweet! Laredo Independent School District Top Accelerated Readers were recognized for their exceptional efforts in reaching their goal during the LISD Board of Trustees recent meeting. A round of applause honored Top Elementary Student Aiden Martinez, 4th grader at Santa Maria Elementary School and Top Middle School Student Leilene Gomez, 8th grader at Lamar Middle School.
Top First Place Kinder through Eighth Grade Students received a 40” Smart T.V., certificate, medal, and a goodie bag for their academic achievement and reading success. The top students include: Dovalina Elementary School Marco Renteria - Kinder; Don Jose Gallego Elementary School Crystal Nevarez - First Grade; Alma Pierce Elementary School Regina Rossel Rivera - Second Grade; Alma Pierce Elementary School Jaylah Zavala - Third Grade; Santa Maria Elementary School Aiden Martinez - Fourth Grade; Milton Elementary School Daniel Martinez - Fifth Grade; Memorial Middle School Katelyn Uribe - Sixth Grade; Lamar Middle School Ana Rios Sanchez - Seventh Grade; and Lamar Middle School Leilene Gomez - Eighth Grade.

LISD student-athletes from Cigarroa, Martin and Nixon High Schools, and Cigarroa, Lamar, Memorial, and Christen Middle Schools will be honored with medals and certificates for their perfect attendance, A Honor Roll, and positive attitude. The Triple “A” award is designed to assist LISD student-athletes in developing strong academic skills, positive behaviors as role models, and the ability to demonstrate a positive attitude.
