Memorial students were rewarded for their hard work in today's Binational Week Laptop Distribution Ceremony.
In celebration of Education Binational Week (Semana Binacional de Educacion 2024), Consul General of México and Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages distributed free laptops to 20 exceptional middle school students from the Laredo Independent School District. The LISD Athletic Department hosted the 2024-2025 Coaches Conference for all LISD middle and high school coaches at the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center. The conference celebrated the 2023-2024 athletic accomplishments and geared up for an exciting scholastic year with our student-athletes.
Laredo ISD welcomed its newest educators during the New Teachers Academy on Tuesday morning at the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts. The morning began with greetings from Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Ríos. The new teachers are spending the week learning about LISD’s policies, procedures, instructional technology, and much more.

Congratulation to LISD Student of the Month Jonathan Torres of Memorial Middle School.
Memorial Middle School eighth grader Jonathan Torres is an exceptional student who is both a leader and a role model to his peers.
He has maintained excellent attendance and grades. His favorite part of the school day is when he attends his math class and gets to play soccer with his classmates.
Jonathan additionally devotes a lot of time to extracurricular activities as he participates in the Mighty Eagle Soccer team. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his cousins practicing and perfecting his soccer skills.
Jonathan hopes to get a scholarship and play soccer for Texas A&M International University while he works on getting his bachelor's degree.

The Laredo Independent School District held a day of remembrance to honor all fallen war heroes, Prisoners of War (POW), and Missing in Action (MIA). Nixon High School JROTC Cadets participated in a Roll Call of all fallen American Heroes, POW, and MIA, followed by the playing of patriotic music by the Memorial Middle School Band and “TAPS” by retired Trevino Magnet School Instructor Roberto “Bobby” Lopez. The Combine Law Enforcement Honor Guard conducted a 21 Gun Salute. LISD Board Vice-President Rudy Morales, LISD Board Parliamentarian Goyo Lopez, and LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios placed a wreath in memory of the fallen soldiers.
